Feature breakdown

What makes Remio feel different.

Sub-5 ms LAN latency, true colour at up to 120 fps, end-to-end encrypted, no account required. Here is what is inside Remio — and how it compares.

Feature matrix

Remio versus the typical remote desktop.

Thirteen features. Side-by-side. Concrete numbers, no marketing fluff. Where the rest say "fast" or "secure", we name the version, the resolution, the frame rate.

Speed

It does not feel remote. It feels instant.

Click something. It happens. No lag, no catch-up, no wondering whether the input registered. Sub-5 ms LAN glass-to-glass is the difference between "remote desktop" and "my desktop, somewhere else".

Five quality presets

Auto — adapts to your connection automatically, 60 fps. The default everyone should use.
Low — mobile data, airport Wi-Fi, weak connections. 30 fps, bandwidth-frugal.
Balanced — everyday work: email, browsing, coding. 60 fps.
High — design work, photo editing, colour-sensitive tasks. 60 fps with true colour.
Ultra — gaming, video editing, maximum fidelity. 120 fps on ProMotion displays.

Touch and control

Your phone becomes a real trackpad.

Not a virtual mouse. Not a touch overlay. Remio recreates the exact scroll physics from the Apple trackpad — same momentum, same deceleration, same feel. It is the thing people notice first.

01
Every gesture, instantly familiar

Tap, scroll, pinch, drag — the way iOS already taught you.

Tap is left click. Two-finger tap is right click. Slide moves the cursor. Pinch zooms. Two-finger scroll keeps inertia. Long press enters drag mode. Three-finger swipe moves between spaces. No learning curve — if you know your iPhone, you already know Remio.

02
Apple scroll physics — for real

We rebuilt the deceleration model, not an approximation of it.

Momentum keeps a flick going naturally and slows on the same curve as macOS. Touch-to-stop kills it dead the moment your finger lands. Direction lock resets cleanly when you reverse. Pause-aware lift avoids the surprise-jump bug every other remote desktop has. Sub-pixel precision means no jitter on small targets.

03
Per-device sensitivity memory

Your iPad prefers a faster cursor. Your iPhone likes lower. Remio remembers.

Five tuned presets — Default, Precision, Speed, Low latency, Smooth — and every parameter is customisable. Apple Pencil sends pressure and tilt straight to the host. External keyboards forward every key, every modifier, every F-row. Set the device once, forget forever.

Audio

Hear everything, feel the sync.

Audio in lockstep with video — even on AirPods. From background podcasts to studio monitoring, Remio holds end-to-end audio under 2 ms.

Under 2 ms audio latency.

With ultra-low buffer modes, end-to-end audio drops below 2 ms — fast enough for real-time music monitoring. You hear what is happening as it happens. Lossless mode pushes 96 kHz stereo for mastering work; Voice mode collapses to 44.1 kHz mono when you need bandwidth back.

Four audio modes.

  • Voice — calls, tutorials, podcasts · 44.1 kHz mono
  • Music — balanced stereo listening · 48 kHz stereo
  • Production — DAW monitoring, tracking · 48 kHz stereo
  • Lossless — mastering, critical listening · 96 kHz stereo
  • AirPods and Bluetooth routing built in, echo and noise suppression on demand

Privacy

Your data never touches our servers.

Not a policy. Not a promise. The architecture. Remio connects your devices directly. We literally cannot see your screen, your files, or your keystrokes.

Zero servers in the data path.

Your devices talk to each other directly. Video, audio, input — none of it passes through Remio's servers. Encryption terminates on your device, not in our cloud. Our connection server only helps the two devices find each other; once they shake hands, traffic flows directly between them for the entire session.

What lands on the wire.

  • Bank-grade end-to-end encryption
  • Forward secrecy — past sessions stay unreadable
  • Per-session keys, destroyed on disconnect
  • No accounts, no central database — pair with QR or PIN
  • Pairing keys stored in your device's secure hardware, never plaintext
  • Privacy mode — host screen blank, audio muted, presence shielded
Smart features

More than a viewer. A remote workspace.

Launch apps, switch windows, adjust quality — all from your phone, without disconnecting. Remio is full remote control that adapts to how you actually work.

App launcher

See every dock app with its real icon. Tap to launch — the app opens on your host machine instantly. No "request app list" dialog, no two-second delay.

Focus mode

Stream a single application instead of the whole desktop. Cleaner view, lower bandwidth, less to ignore. Photoshop on the iPad without the menu bar.

Device presence

See whether your host is online, sleeping, busy, or already in a session — right from the device list. No need to connect just to check.

Live adjustments

Switch quality, fps, or resolution mid-session without disconnecting. Jumped onto cellular? Drop to Low in one tap; the stream re-negotiates inside a second.

Platforms

Built for your device, not against it.

Remio is not a web app in a shell. Every platform gets its own native app — built the way Apple and Google intend. Better performance, longer battery, deeper integration with your device.

Why native matters

Native apps reach hardware accelerators, GPU power, and platform features that web wrappers cannot. The result: faster streaming, longer battery, and an app that belongs on your device.

No GPU lock-in

Unlike competitors that require NVIDIA hardware, Remio works on any Mac — Apple Silicon or Intel — and any Windows PC. The hardware acceleration is built right into your computer.

Seamless updates

Update the client without updating the host, or vice versa. Remio's protocol is forward-compatible — old and new versions interoperate cleanly.

Common questions

Quick answers to what people ask first.

Remio targets under 5 ms glass-to-glass on a same-LAN direct connection. Over the public internet a typical figure is 30 to 60 ms depending on geography. By comparison, traditional remote desktops add 30 to 80 ms even on a LAN because traffic detours through their servers.
Bank-grade end-to-end encryption with forward secrecy. Keys are generated per session and destroyed on disconnect — past sessions stay unreadable even by us. Pairing keys live in your device's secure hardware on Apple and Android, never plaintext, never in our cloud.
No. Pair two devices with a QR code or PIN — no email, no password, no personal data stored anywhere. You are a device, not a profile. Remio has no central account database to leak.
Yes. Remio always attempts a direct device-to-device connection first. When your network blocks that (rare on most home networks), traffic falls back to an encrypted relay — but the payload is still end-to-end encrypted, so the relay sees only scrambled data.
macOS (host and client), iOS and iPadOS (client), Windows (host and client), Android (client), and visionOS (client). Every client is a real native app — made for Mac, iPhone, iPad, Windows, and Android the way each platform intends.
Yes. Apple Pencil forwards pressure and tilt to the host — useful for Procreate-to-Photoshop or Illustrator workflows from an iPad. Hardware keyboards forward every key including the F-row, Cmd, Option, and platform-specific modifiers. External trackpads pass through with full gesture support.
