That photo on your phone, that PDF someone just sent you — get it onto the computer you're controlling without email, cloud drives, or cables. Remio sends files over the same encrypted session as your stream: pick a file, watch the progress, and it lands in the remote computer's Downloads → Remio folder.
Connect → tap the file button in the streaming toolbar → pick a file (up to 2 GB) → it appears in Downloads/Remio on the remote computer. On a Mac host, Finder even opens to show it.
How to send, from each device

Where files land
Every transferred file arrives in a Remio folder inside the remote computer's Downloads directory — one predictable place, never scattered across the desktop. On a Mac host, Finder automatically reveals the file the moment it finishes, so it is one drag away from wherever you need it.
Private by design
- Files travel inside the session's end-to-end encrypted channel — the same protection as your screen and keystrokes.
- There is no server-side copy, no upload bucket, no link that can leak. If the session is direct, the file goes straight from your device to the computer.
- Interrupted transfers are cleaned up — no half-written files masquerading as real ones.
What about pulling files back?
Since Remio 3.0, transfer works both ways: send from the device in your hand to the computer you're controlling, or send from Remio Host on the computer to your device. Sending to your computer on a direct connection is free. Receiving files on your device, and sending over the relay, are part of Remio Pro.
Troubleshooting
- The file button is missing — update both apps; the host also needs a current version to receive files. Everything updates in one click from the download page or the stores.
- Transfer won't start away from home — when your network forces the relay, sending over it needs Remio Pro. Without it, get on the same network as the host or set up a direct connection port.
- A large file stops midway — transfers ride the streaming connection, so a network drop pauses them. Reconnect and send again; partial files are cleaned up automatically.
- Can't find the file on the remote computer — look in Downloads → Remio. If your file manager was already open to Downloads, refresh the view.
FAQ
What file types can I send?
Any type — photos, videos, documents, archives, installers. The limit is size (2 GB per file from iPhone and iPad), not format.
Can I send multiple files at once?
Yes. Pick as many as you like — they queue up and go one after another, each with its own progress, and you can cancel one or everything still waiting.
Does it work over the internet, away from the host?
Yes, whenever the session can reach the host — which is exactly when you can stream it. On a direct connection, sending to your computer is free; when the session runs through the relay, file transfer needs Remio Pro.
Can the remote computer send files back to me?
Yes, since Remio 3.0. Send a file from Remio Host on the computer and it arrives on your device. Receiving files is part of Remio Pro.
