The short version
A Remio account is optional. You only have one if you signed in with Apple or Google to sync your paired devices across phones, tablets, and computers. If you have never signed in, there is nothing to delete — just uninstall the app and the local data goes with it.
If you do have an account and want it gone, the fastest path is the in-app flow below. The email path exists for the rare case you no longer have access to a signed-in device. Both produce the same outcome: your profile and all associated cloud data are permanently removed.
Open Remio → Settings → Account → Delete account. Or email privacy@remio.net. Done within thirty days, usually within minutes.
Five steps inside the Remio app
The fastest way is from inside any signed-in copy of Remio. The flow is identical on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows, and Android.
-
01
Open Remio
Launch the app on any device where you are currently signed in: iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows PC, or Android.
YOU SHOULD SEE Your dashboard with paired devices listed.
-
02
Open Settings, then Account
Tap the gear icon in the top-right corner to open Settings. From the list, choose Account.
YOU SHOULD SEE Your display name, sign-in provider (Apple or Google), and the date you joined.
-
03
Tap Delete account
Scroll to the bottom of the Account screen. The Delete account button sits below Sign out, in a quiet red.
YOU SHOULD SEE A confirmation sheet explaining what will be removed.
-
04
Type your display name to confirm
This guardrail is here so the destructive action never fires by accident. Type your name exactly as shown, then tap Delete permanently.
YOU SHOULD SEE A brief progress indicator, then the app returns to the sign-in screen.
-
05
Confirmation lands in your inbox
Within minutes, your Firestore profile, paired-device list, and Firebase Auth record are removed. A short confirmation email is sent to the address on file.
YOU SHOULD SEE An email from privacy@remio.net within a few minutes — check spam if it does not arrive.
Lost the device, factory-reset, or signed out everywhere? Skip to option two — delete by email. We process those manually within two business days.
Option two — write to us
If you cannot reach the in-app flow, send a short email and we will process the deletion by hand. To prove the request belongs to you, send it from the address linked to your account.
Include the following so we can match your account quickly:
- Your account email, or the Apple Hide My Email relay address if you used that.
- The auth provider you used — Apple or Google.
- Optionally, the display name you remember seeing in the app.
We confirm receipt within two business days and complete the deletion within thirty days, in line with GDPR Article 17 and CCPA §1798.105.
Where every byte lives and when it leaves
This is the full ledger. Each row is a category of data that may exist somewhere because you used Remio. The right-hand column tells you, honestly, when it disappears.
| DATA TYPE | WHERE IT LIVES | DELETION TIMING | HOW YOU VERIFY |
|---|---|---|---|
| PROFILE Display name, email, avatar URL |
Firestore /users/{uid} |
Within minutes | Sign-in returns a fresh, empty account. |
| DEVICES Paired-device list and metadata |
Firestore /devices/{deviceId} |
Within minutes | Other paired devices stop appearing in the app. |
| AUTH Apple or Google credential link |
Firebase Authentication | Within minutes | The same Apple ID or Google account starts a new profile. |
| PUSH APNs and FCM tokens |
Apple APNs / Google FCM map | Within minutes | No more pairing or status notifications arrive. |
| SESSIONS Active sessions on every device |
Local app state | Immediate | Every signed-in copy of Remio returns to the sign-in screen. |
| CRASH LOGS Anonymous crash reports |
Apple Crash Reporting | Within 30 days | Apple rotates these on a fixed schedule we do not control. |
| SERVER LOGS Anonymized connection logs |
Cloudflare and Remio connection server | Within 14 days | Already non-identifying — no link back to you after deletion. |
| PAYMENTS Subscription transaction records |
Apple / Google merchant ledger | Retained by store | Required for tax law. Remio never sees card details. |
| SCREENS / KEYS Your screen, clipboard, files, input |
Never stored anywhere by Remio | Never collected | End-to-end encrypted, direct between your devices. |
Once deletion completes, the account itself cannot be recovered. Signing in again with the same Apple ID or Google account starts a brand-new, empty profile.
What we cannot delete, and why
Honestly, almost nothing — Remio is designed so we do not accumulate data we would later have to defend keeping. The handful of items that may persist briefly:
- Anonymous crash reports handled by Apple's crash-reporting infrastructure, not tied to your account, deleted by Apple within thirty days.
- Aggregated, non-identifying server logs that show that a connection happened, with no link back to you. Rotated within fourteen days.
- Payment records for any subscription you bought. Apple or Google is the merchant of record — we never see card details — and they are legally required to keep the transaction record for tax and accounting reasons.
We have never collected your screen content, keystrokes, files, or clipboard data. Those flow directly between your devices, end-to-end encrypted. There is literally nothing for us to delete on that front because there is nothing for us to keep.
What happens, and when
- Immediately — You are signed out on every device. The app stops appearing in your paired-devices list elsewhere.
- Within minutes — In-app deletions remove your Firestore profile and Firebase Auth record.
- Within two business days — Email requests receive a confirmation reply from a real human.
- Within thirty days — Full deletion guaranteed, in line with GDPR Article 17 and CCPA §1798.105.
- Encrypted backups — Age out within thirty days. Deleted records do not return when backups roll forward.
Cancel billing before you delete
If you bought a Remio subscription through the App Store or Google Play, deleting your account does not automatically cancel billing. Subscriptions are managed by Apple or Google, not by Remio.
Cancel before deleting, here:
- iOS, iPadOS, macOS — Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Remio → Cancel.
- Android — Google Play → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Remio → Cancel.
If you delete the account while a subscription is active, billing continues until you cancel through the store. Refund requests for unused time go through Apple or Google directly — we do not have access to that ledger.
If you change your mind
You can create a new Remio account at any time by signing in again with Apple or Google. It will be a fresh, empty account. Your old display name, paired devices, and any settings tied to the deleted profile are gone for good — we cannot restore them, even with a court order.
If you simply want to switch devices or take a break, you do not need to delete the account at all. Sign out from Settings → Account → Sign out and your data stays put for whenever you come back.
